Join us as we celebrate 100 years of Camp Fire’s History and Heritage

Help us fill 100 tables with our Camp Fire friends and alumni. We take a journey back in time to remember all the fun we have had being part of Camp Fire and more importantly we will set the stage for our next 100 years. Camp Fire is needed as much or more for today’s kids as we work to get them connected to nature and each other through the many programs that we offer in our community.

This is our fundraising luncheon. We do not charge for the lunch, but we will be asking you make a contribution to the organization. Because this is such a monumental occasion for us, our goal is to raise $100,000 to set the stage for the next 100 years.  It is our mission to inspire you to give and help secure our ability to continue to “Build Caring Confident Youth and Future Leaders” as we work toward our vision of “Reuniting Children and Nature”.

We want to fill 100 tables for our event and to do that we will need your help. Are you connected to your Camp Fire friends? Maybe you were CIT’s together at Wyandot, or WEALS at Otonwe or were in a club together. Gather your friends and create a table, each table holds 8. If you are looking for your Camp Fire friends, a good place to find them is on Facebook. We have 2 pages and many people are on both pages. There is Camp Wyandot page and Camp Fire USA Central Ohio Page. Use the search bar on Facebook and both pages will come right up. If you are not on Facebook we encourage you to join, it is a great way to find and stay connected with long lost friends. If you have not connected with others from Camp Fire come and join us anyway, surely there will be people at the luncheon that you will know. This was meant to not only be a Camp Fire USA event, but a community-wide event open to everyone currently involved in Camp Fire, our esteemed alumni across the nation and the interested public. It was a great opportunity to celebrate the promise of continuing our legacy that has left an indelible mark on millions of alumni and hundreds of communities.

This official national event featured a special lighting of commemorative campfires at precisely 7:30 p.m. in each time zone.

Our Central Ohio Celebration included a great day of fun at Camp Wyandot. Beginning at 2:00 pm, we enjoyed the pool and Lake Atagahi. (After a brief “dew” shower) After dinner in the dining hall we sang songs just like old times. And then processed to our council fire. We lined up by decades and sang our familiar processional to the council fire ring. Please enjoy the Photos that are attached.

Please consider being a table captain for our Centennial Fundraising Luncheon. We are looking for enthusiastic alumni and Camp Fire friends who would like to gather 7 of their friends to share a table at the luncheon.

There is no cost to attend the luncheon, however we do want everyone to know that it is a fundraising luncheon and we will be asking for a donation and will do our best to inspire our guests to want to give, to help us continue to build caring, confident youth and future leaders.

If you are willing and able to be a table captain please join us on September 16 for a one hour information session, where we will give you all the tools that you will need to be a successful table captain. Our goal is 100 tables to commemorate our Centennial year. Please help us achieve this goal and think of all the fun you will have finding and reconnecting with your Camp Fire friends. Building More Than Campfires Centennial Luncheon

Friday, Sept. 24, 7pm to Sunday, Sept. 26, at noon.  Coyote Trails School of Nature (CTSN) will join us at Camp Wyandot to offer past and present Camp Wyandot & Otonwe staff, volunteers, alumni, and members a special weekend designed to immerse Camp Fire members into CTSN teachings.  CTSN programs often cause a shift in consciousness, allowing for a closer connection with the Earth, the self and the group through the vehicle of primitive Earth based living skills.  Activities include learning how to see with “owl eyes,” walk in the woods in silence, make fire with a bow drill through friction and building basic shelters.  Together we will expand our awareness, within ourselves and throughout the environment around us.  CTSN and Camp Fire share a common vision which can be traced back to our roots.  Celebrate Camp Fire’s Centennial year by being a part of envisioning the future of both programs through your participation and feedback this weekend.

Do you enjoy dressing up in costumes?  Playing fun Halloween games and making neat crafts?  Sleeping in a cabin under the stars?  Yes! Then you should join us for our annual Halloween in the Hills at Camp Wyandot this October 16 – 17!  Bring your Camp Fire group and friends for a weekend full of great Halloween fun!  There will be a dinner, cabin and costume contests, various games and activities, trick-or-treat down cabin row, a campfire, and more!!!

             The cost for this weekend will be $25 per person, 3 and under free. This will cover materials for activities, games, prizes, food, and lodging.  You will need to bring your own cabin decorations and costumes.  Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast will be provided in Hislop Lodge (the Dining Hall). Come join the fun of spending a weekend at Wyandot away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Remember the sound of the bullfrog or the smell of wood smoke? Please contact all your friends who have enjoyed Wyandot and invite them to attend. Wouldn’t it be great to have a full camp? (Note: Youth under age 18 planning to attend without his / her family must secure an adult chaperone prior to the weekend and mail a signed permission slip along with weekend payment.)

Spend your weekend enjoying the beauty of nature and the fun that makes Camp Wyandot a great place to be. Meals will be prepared and served in Hislop Lodge (dining hall) and you will have ample time for swimming, hiking, observing nature, talking with old and new friends and doing whatever it is that you enjoy doing at Camp Wyandot. This will be a great weekend filled with fun and adventure, so talk to all of your Wyandot friends and get them to register TODAY!!

We will have a Venetian Sing Saturday evening, Reflection on Sunday morning, sing your favorite camp songs, and do other activities you suggest.

Plan to arrive between 8:00 and 8:30 PM Friday evening. Then go to your cabin and get settled. We will meet at Hislop Lodge at 8:45 PM for a snack, songs, and introductions. Saturday breakfast will be served at 8:30 AM. A cabin assignment list will be mailed OR e-mailed prior to the weekend.

Various prices are available depending how long you can stay.

Come to the Youth Center and see why Camp Fire USA is so great. We will have many youth entries to look at and knowledgable volunteers to answer questions. Our entries include items from Preschool aged kids up through High School.

Were you in Camp Fire as a child? Sign up for our alumni mailing list and enter your own Camp Fire treasures to earn a special Centennial Ribbon. Join us August 8th for our special competitions including lashing and fire building. Download the brochure above for entry details and more information.

Camp Fire Clubs can come and sell Anthony Thomas Candy Bars to earn money for their club activities.

Volunteers are needed to help in the Camp Fire Booth. You will receive Fair tickets for helping and this is a perfect opportunity to represent Camp Fire to the public.
