We made more memories!
The 7th Annual Camp Fire Luncheon was held October 15, 2011. We celebrated our day and overnight camps and Camp Fire groups and clubs. Our long history was recalled by current and past Camp Fire members. Extensive displays of memorabilia and a silent auction were enjoyed by all. We raised $16,000 to continue to bring Camp Wyandot and all of our programs to children today. Please join us for the 8th Annual Luncheon November 10, 2012, at Villa Milano Party House, Westerville.

Rent a cabin at Camp Wyandot
Many of you may not be aware that Camp Wyandot is available to rent when our council is not using it. There are many weekends during the school year that are available and many weeks during the summer that are open. Go down with your family or bring a whole group! We even have a few buildings that are winterized for cold weather camping. We can offer meals and programs for large groups so pass the word on to your Church and Civic organizations. Our prices are very reasonable so give us a call at 614-481-8227 to reserve your spot in the beautiful Hocking Hills.
Camp Fire Clubs
Our club program is still going strong with almost 200 youth members. I am excited to train 5 new club leaders this fall and help them get their groups up and running. We will have 2 new Little Stars (preschool) Clubs and 3 new Starflight (K-2 grade) Clubs. We have many exciting things planned for this school year including working on the National Art Competition and having those projects entered into the County and State Fairs. The Medium this year is fibers. In September or first Little Stars club, The Starry Sky Club led by Alice Hohl, held a fly-up ceremony. They are now Starflight. Here is a video of their fly-up ceremony:
Our first homeschool club led by Ingrid Biery has grown and split off into two levels. Christine Davidson will be leading the Starflight level and Ingrid is leading the Adventure Level. Their club names are the Creative Kids, Elephants and the Red Dinosaurs. They enjoy letting the kids pick their own projects and earn many awards on the Trail to Creativity.
The Man, The Myth, The Legend!!!!
On Saturday, October 8th, there was a special celebration held at Camp Wyandot for a very important member of the Camp Fire family. Chuck Woodrum, the current caretaker at Wyandot, has given 44 years of his life to serving our council, first at Camp Otonwe and now in his current position. Over 50 people showed up for the celebration which consisted of great food, games, crafts, a campfire, a gift presentation, and reminiscing about all Chuck has done in our lives!
I would like to thank everyone who came down to show their deep appreciation to this man for all he has done!!! Chuck is one of the most generous people many of us has ever known, always willing to help others in any situation, from his basic duties around the camp to flipping pancakes when we were running late in the kitchen. Chuck is an amazing man and we are so lucky to have had him in our council and in our lives!!!
