Overview

WHO WE ARE

Camp Wyandot has been serving South Central Ohio since 1928. It is tucked in alongside of Clear Creek, deep in a valley in the Hocking Hills region about an hour south of Columbus, Ohio. It is in a unique location, known as one of the most bio-diverse regions on the planet. Our camp hosts a variety of habitats, including deciduous and evergreen forests, meadows, a lake, streams, and one of the clearest creeks in the state with over 40 different species of fish inhabiting its waters. Giant hemlocks, brought by the glaciers, provide shade and humidity for the abundance of ferns, wild flowers, and creatures of all types. Within our forests are some stunning geological formations carved over the millennia from the famous Black Hand sandstone that rises into the Appalachian Mountains.

Camp Fire USA is one of the nation’s leading not-for-profit youth development organizations, currently serving nearly 750,000 children and youth annually. We take pride in our long-standing commitment to providing fun programs and services to all children and families in America. We are inclusive; open to every person in the communities we serve, welcoming children, youth and adults regardless of race, religion, socioeconomic status, disability, sexual orientation or other aspect of diversity. The Central Ohio Council has been serving local families for over 80 years. We operate Camp Wyandot, but also provide community programs, after-school care, youth clubs and more.

WHAT WE DO

Our mission is: “To develop caring confident youth and future leaders”, and we are focused on reuniting children and nature… but we do so much more! For User Groups looking for a unique experience, we provide a variety of outdoor based camping adventures.

LIFE AT CAMP

Camp is in the woods and very rustic! We are in a valley and the climate tends to be wetter and colder than the city.

Lodging areas, with the exception of our specialty accommodations, do not have electricity or plumbing in sleeping quarters. There are a few units in camp with electricity in common areas.

Bath / Shower Houses are located on each side of camp. There is running water and modern plumbing. We shut down the water at the end of October and open up water service again in mid-April. Winter user groups will need to be prepared to use outhouses and bring heir own drinking / cooking water.

Meeting Space is available for groups of 12 or less in Hoskins Lodge, and Hislop lodge for groups up to 80 or so. We can also provide snacks and beverages.

Rain plans should include getting wet! There is limited indoor space available for activities so plan to be outside as much as possible.

The “What to bring” list should include flashlights, rain gear, alarm clocks, toiletries, sleeping bag/bedding, warm clothes, fishing equipment, etc.

SERVICES & PROGRAMS

Our professional staff will work with you in scheduling just the right blend of activities. Some things groups typically enjoy include;

Food Service is available from our professional kitchen. We will provide well-balanced, hot delicious meals and can accommodate most any special needs or particular meal requests. Meals are served in our Historic Dining Hall, Hislop Lodge, which can accommodate up to 100 guests at a meal.

Arrangements for these activities must be made in advance. Bank Fishing is available at any time with your own equipment. We do have some equipment available.

Camp Wyandot provides the perfect opportunity for exploring nature! Our trained staff can provide guided nature hikes, creek exploration, wild edible hikes, Owl Prowls and more.

Camp Wyandot is a great place to try Archery and other sports . There is also basketball, tetherball, soccer, playfields, hiking, and plenty of forests to explore!
