Family Camps

Experience the joy and uniqueness of Camp Wyandot with your entire family. Camp Fire has several weekends that we designate as FAMILY CAMPING WEEKENDS. Follow our fun-filled schedule or set your own. All the usual camp activities will be available for you to do, including evening programs. Bond with your family in new and wonderful ways while you listen to the wind in the pines, see the stars brighter than you can remember, and feel the cool night air drift in around you as you snuggle into your sleeping bag and drift off to sleep. Lodging will be in cabins and all meals will be provided in the historic Hislop lodge.

Saturday check-in will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Staff will be available with maps and cabin assignments.  Check out will be after breakfast on Monday.

Activities

Our Family Camps are geared more towards relaxing by the lake than being constantly on the go. However, don’t think for a moment that you or your kids will be bored! We will provide you with activity options at check-in. You may choose to participate in these activities or spend time with your family on your own. Activities often include canoeing and kayaking, fishing (you can bring your own pole and bait or use our poles), archery, crazy games, camp fires, night hikes and adventure hikes to various camp locations or you may choose to hike at the Clear Creek Metro Park.

Meals

Meal times at Wyandot are special. We serve up tasty food in historic Hislop Lodge Dining Hall. It’s often the best time to catch up on what’s happening at camp and meet new friends.

By the way… Our food is great! Quite often camp food is sub-par but campers and staff think ours is fantastic. Maybe it’s not mom’s home cooking, but it’s pretty tasty just the same, with the added advantage of you don’t have to cook it or clean up the kitchen!

If you choose, you may prefer cooking your own meal over an open fire. One more thing.. the S’mores are on us!

Facilities

Camp Wyandot is located on over 100 acres of prime nature. Expect hilly terrain and rustic facilities! Be prepared to walk to your cabin and carry whatever you bring to camp with you. Our facilities are considered rustic, which is a step above primitive and below modern. Our actual cabins where families sleep do not have electricity or plumbing. There are bathroom and shower facilities within walking distance. Families are usually housed in our Cabin Row cabins.

What to bring

The weather at camp can be hot or cold, sunny or rainy or a combination: it is often much different than it is in the City. so be prepared!

  • There is no electricity in the cabins, bring a flashlight or battery operated lantern. Please NO open flames or liquid fuel powered light sources are to be used in the cabins. Don’t forget a battery alarm clock!
  • A walk is involved to the bath house, bring a bag or tote for your toiletries.
  • It is often much colder at camp, bring a warm sleeping bag and throw an extra in the car just in case.
  • The terrain is outdoors and hilly, bring good tennis shoes or boots. and some old shoes for exploring the creeks!
  • Since you have to walk your gear, don’t bring the kitchen sink!

Please don’t bring

Alcoholic beverages and pets are not permitted on camp property.

Cell phones get spotty reception. Sprint is the only carrier known to get solid reception on camp.

Smoking is permitted on the porch of Khru only
